A family of hobbies
Artistic
The artistic family makes something that did not exist before. That is a harder starting point than it sounds: the first attempts are visibly worse than the thing being imitated, and most people stop there.
Those who do not stop discover the family's real reward — that taste improves before skill does, and the gap between them is what pulls the work forward.

Painting
Pigment, surface, and the long argument with what you meant to make — and collecting other people's.
Photography
Artistic and outdoor at once — light, timing, and a hundred discarded frames.
Perfumery
Scent built by hand — attar included, still distilled by deg-bhapka in Kannauj.
Crafts
Made by hand, meant to be used: wood, cloth, clay, paper.
